Queensryche was ok...Skid Row was great!

I have wanted to see Queensryche since I was a kid but never had the chance until this show. Always been a huge fan of the original lineup but time marches on and things change. I wanted to love this show but I walked away unimpressed. The band played all the notes and the music sounded like Queensryche but the stage show seemed "mailed in." It was a small venue, the days of Queensryche headlining arenas are over, and it seemed as if the band wasn't happy by the fact they were playing to a small audience in an "Off the Strip" Las Vegas venue. Todd does a great job sounding like Jeff Tate but he spent more time walking off stage when he wasn't singing than anything else. There was a short time where the crew was having problems with the equipment. This is usually a time for the lead singer to involve the crowd and tell a story or something. The band stood there and waited with Todd simply stating "I'm not a stand up comedian." So a two minute recess seemed to take an uncomfortable amount of time. I could have saved myself $50 by playing LiveCrime in my living room at full blast. I loved the music and the set was from the entire catalog, but the band didn't seem like they wanted to be there. The funny part is that Skid Row was the opener and I didn't expect much from them and they were great! I've never been a big fan of Skid Row but I was totally into their performance because they were totally into it as well. So. Will I spend the money to see Queensryche again if they were to come around again? No. if you've never seen them live and love the tunes, I think you should go, maybe you'll come away more fulfilled than I was. But, would I go to see Skid Row again? Absolutely!
